Without (Back)ground

This photo series presents plants removed from their natural environment and displayed against a white background. Leaf, stem, and flower become visible without the usual context of landscape or habitat. In several images, soil and roots remain partially visible.

Through the use of a white background, attention shifts entirely to form, structure, and detail. The plant no longer functions as part of a larger whole, but as an autonomous object within the image.

Zonder (achter) grond

Deze fotoserie toont planten losgemaakt van hun natuurlijke omgeving en gepresenteerd tegen een witte achtergrond. Blad, stengel en bloem worden zichtbaar zonder de gebruikelijke context van landschap of habitat. In een aantal beelden blijven bodem en wortels gedeeltelijk zichbaar.

Door de witte achtergrond verschuift de aandacht volledig naar vorm, structuur en detail. De plant wordt geen onderdeel van een groter geheel, maar een zelfstandig object binnen het beeld.
